What’s the best bike for commuting?

Almost any bike can be a good commuter if you know what you’re doing. Ideally a bike with mounts for mudguards and racks as well as hydraulic disc brakes and nice wide tyres.

How long do commuter bikes last?

If you look after your commuter bike by getting it serviced regularly and keeping it out of the rain as often as possible then you should expect your commuter to last for many years. When your bike is feeling a little old and run down, little things such as getting a new seat and grips as well as replacing tyres can make a huge difference to the feel of the bike.

What’s a hybrid bike?

A hybrid bike is in between a mountain bike and a road bike. It’s pretty good on road and it’s pretty good off-road as long as it’s not too rough. Most hybrid bikes come with suspension, however that’s not a kind of bike we stock. We believe that a steel frame bike with wide tyres such as a Jamis Sequel is going to give you just as much comfort as a suspension equipped hybrid but without the headache of getting a suspension fork serviced regularly.

Stylish steel frames

If you’re after something a bit more stylish then why not check out the Tokyo Bikes Bisou which is styled like a vintage bike or even a Soma Wolverine.
