Chris and other Bicycle Garden volunteers helping out at Homeless Connect

Long before we started a bike shop, Maurice, Ollie and Chris were involved in the Nunnery, a community bike-fixing workshop in Newtown (which became Cycle-Recycle). Then he started the UNSW Bike Club, which he later handed over to Chris. More recently, Chris and Ollie were founding members of the Bicycle Garden.

That's why we're proud to have been a finalist in Marrickville Council's 2013 Sustainability Awards, in the "Community Partnership" category. We've been helping the Bicycle Garden out, by storing tools and parts in our shop that are used at the Marrickville Markets on Sundays. We also take donations of old bikes at the shop that are diverted from landfill into the Bicycle Garden's projects.

If you'd like to learn more about how to fix your bike, or are keen to help other people fix theirs, why not volunteer with us? Email

Chris is also a volunteer for the community project Bike Buddies Australia. If you need help riding around Sydney's inner-west, east or city, you can send him an email -
