Why we're Sydney's best bike shop for women

Back in 2013, we were voted Sydney's best bicycle shop for women. Since then we haven't been resting on our laurels - here's why we're still the best.
1. We hire female staff. We don't have a distinction between mechanics and sales staff, and this helps customers get good advice from all our staff. We run training sessions on mechanics and sales topics twice a week, which helps address some of the entrenched hierarchies between female and male mechanics.
2. We get to know our customers and their needs. If someone comes in looking for a bike we'll ask them what kind, but also encourage them to test-ride all sorts of bicycles, including those they might not have considered. We ask women straight up if they want a step-through or diamond frame - and we ask men too. So we try not to assume based on gender.
3. We tailor initiatives to women. Our Saddle Club addresses the fact that saddle comfort is sometimes an issue for women who are riding bikes that were designed for men.
4. Our staff respect customers. We're not an elitist shop - we won't talk down to you, or assume what you do or don't know. We'll ask, and then if you don't know, we'll explain (without being condescending). We genuinely want to help customers understand their bicycles better.
