The Saddle Club

Bicycle saddles or seats are one of those things you really need to try before you buy. Having an uncomfortable saddle can really ruin your ride, so we want you to be riding the most comfortable saddle for you, so you'll spend more time riding your bike.

That's why we've started the Omafiets saddle library. Here's how it works:

  1. You pay a $30 membership fee, and receive your library card.
  2. You can borrow as many saddles as you like (one at a time) for up to one week each.
  3. When you've found the saddle of your dreams, we'll give you a brand new one with a $30 discount.

It's often not enough to take a saddle for a short test ride around the block - we want you to be sure you've found the best saddle for you, which is why we let you take it for a whole week. That way you can test it on your regular commute or other long ride, and be sure you've made the right choice.

Here are the saddles in the library, available for loans:

Brooks

B17, B17 "S": The most popular Brooks saddle, the B17 is designed for bikes with the handlebars at the same height or lower than the saddle. The "S" version has a shorter nose, and is recommended for women. Available in Black, Brown and Honey.

Flyer, Flyer "S": The sprung version of the B17, it has the same leather top, but a pair of springs at the rear. Recommended for bikes where the handlebars are higher than the saddle. The "S" version has a shorter nose, and is recommended for women. Available in Black, Brown and Honey. [The Flyer is available for test rides]

B67 "S": A wider version of the Flyer, for people with wider hips, or very upright bicycles. The "S" version has a shorter nose, and is recommended for women. Available in Black, Brown and Honey. [Currently not available for test rides - we're still breaking it in.]

Cambium C17, C17 "S": Brooks' rubber/cotton saddle is the same shape as the B17, but requires no breaking in - plus it's weatherproof. It's a firm saddle that will suit riders who don't need much padding. The "S" version has a shorter nose, and is recommended for women. Available in Slate and Natural. Vegan.
