Heartbreak Hill Bikepacking Overnighter
5th-6th September, an open bikepacking overnighter near Wisemans Ferry
Event Details
Join us for a bikepacking overnight ride to Heartbreak Hill campground, high on the ridge above St Albans in the Hawkesbury region.
We will have two ride distance options:
-
a long ride option starting from Windsor train station (77km each way), and possibly riding out to the Central Coast on Sunday
-
a short ride option starting at Wisemans Ferry (26km each way)
We'll aim to have lunch at Wisemans Ferry pub in both directions, but bring lots of snacks in case you're running late!
Participants should be completely self-sufficient with both their bike spares and tools, and camping/cooking gear. You need to bring:
-
Your own bike (gravel, mountain, hybrid, or touring bike) and repair kit (spare tube, mini pump, patch kit, tyre levers)
-
Sleeping gear (sleeping bag, mat)
-
A tent or other shelter
-
A headtorch for the campsite
-
All food including ~1.5L water, snacks, dinner (Saturday), breakfast (Sunday), and cooking gear (you could also pack sandwiches/foods not requiring heating if you don't want to bring cooking gear)
-
There might be some water in the tank at the campground, but we'd recommend filling up at Wisemans Ferry.
-
Weather-appropriate clothing (including warm clothing and rain gear)
