Routes
We've been running shop rides around Sydney for many years, and these are a few of our favourite routes. We've made this page as a community resource for people looking to go on their own bikepacking adventures.

Riding in the Jagungal
The Jagungal was badly affected by the 2020 fires. Round Mountain and Happys Huts were among the many huts to burn down. Check with National Parks before planning a trip.

Central West Cycling Trail
Whether it's your first or your fiftieth tour, the Central West Cycling Trail will delight with a wonderful mixture of geography, small towns, and great people. The riding is very accessible for most riders, whether you decide you want to travel light by staying in pubs each night, or camp out under the stars.

The Glow Worm Tunnel: Bell to Newnes
Oct 2024 update: This route originally started at Lithgow and went along the Wolgan Valley Rd, however the main road into Newnes is closed. The Glowworm Tunnel and Newnes Campground have reopened, and you can also ride on the Coach Road. You can also start at Lithgow and ride up State Mine Gully Rd to join this route.

Mountains to the Coast: Mt Wilson to Ourimbah
This is a ride of contrasts. It begins in the lush forests of Mount Wilson, descends to the dry bush that lines the Hawkesbury and Colo rivers, and pops out on the the almost tropical Central Coast. You'll be pushing your bike up a washed-out disused firetrail, cruising along smooth sealed tarmac, and then descending on glorious dirt roads - all on the same day. The first night's camp is at a remote site only accessible by foot, and the second night's across the road from a rowdy historic pub.If that's not enough to recommend this ride, you lose almost 1000 metres of elevation on the first day. That's a lot of downhill!

The Caves Traverse: Blue Mountains to Leisure Coast
This is our favourite three-day ride around Sydney. It takes in some spectacular bush, passing through many of the Blue Mountains national parks, plus it has lots of huge hills! Seriously, the hills go on for what seems like forever (and they can be seriously steep). Take only as much equipment as you need, and some easy gears...

The Old Convict Road: Windsor to Ourimbah
This overnight ride samples some of the Hawkesbury's best gravel riding on day one, and then takes you into proper MTB terrain on day two. If you have an extra day and you're looking to extend your trip, you can camp at Ten Mile Hollow along the Convict Road, and take your time exploring the area.

Meryla Pass: Moss Vale to Nowra
A very fun ride through a beautiful national park, Meryla Pass is a steep dirt fire trail that leads down from the Southern Highlands. You'll pass through the picturesque Kangaroo Valley, and there's optional camping.

Swallow Tail Pass Loop
This ride is a perfect moderate difficulty overnighter with sweeping gravel descents and climbs. Best enjoyed in a 'fast and light' fashion, staying at the pub in Taralga. Photos courtesy David Roche

Two Pub Tour
This is our favourite three-day ride around Sydney. It takes in some spectacular bush, passing through many of the Blue Mountains national parks, plus it has lots of huge hills!
